On Sunday, March 22, five college and university teams from around the state will participate in a fly-off for the MnSGC’s 2025-2026 Intercollegiate Quadcopter Challenge, organized by Concordia College, Moorhead, and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.

This event will take place in the Balas Atrium of Akerman Hall at the University of Minnesota (110 SE Union St, Minneapolis), and is open to the public.

In this challenge, students have learned to build, tune, and fly small quadcopters, then modify them for “exploration/characterization of an unknown (indoor) environment”.

On the fly-off date teams will do a walk-through of a practice course (9 to 10 a.m.), then do oral presentations about their designs and plans for exploration flying and data analysis to a panel of judges (10 a.m. till noon), then take turns doing exploration flying (1 p.m. till about 3 p.m.).
