High-Powered Rocket Competition (LLTC)

Rocketry teams from Tribal Colleges and Universities from around the country design, build, and fly rockets at the First Nations Launch in Kenosha, WI, organized by the Wisconsin Space Grant. Leech Lake Tribal College (LLTC) has competed annually since 2011-2012. Students complete a variety of science and engineering challenges.

In 2016-2017, LLTC took second place in the tribal competition against 13 other teams. In the 2016-2017 competition rockets were designed to gather and log weather data, send data to the ground by radio telemetry, and capture on-board video.

For this competition Native American students from all over the country gather and work together in an environment of competition and camaraderie, sharing tools, tips, and experiences.
